5 Underrated Benefits of Chess in Education<\/h3>\n

When you hear \u2018chess in education\u2019, what comes to your mind?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Intelligence? Studious? Or maybe logic and creativity?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Recognizing its importance, the country of Armenia has made chess compulsory in schools. You study it like Maths, Science and other subjects.<\/p>\n

And did you know about the 3 chess world champions, who were also renowned mathematicians?
\nEmmanuel Lasker, Max Euwe, and Mikhail Botvinnik.<\/p>\n

Botvinnik<\/a> even helped build algorithms that would later give birth to chess engines.<\/p>\n

And he even co-authored reports on possible use cases of AI in managing the Soviet Union\u2019s economy, all the way back in 1960s and 70s!<\/p>\n

Enough to say there\u2019s a clear positive connection between chess and education.<\/p>\n

For anyone who plays chess, it becomes almost natural overtime to sit in a place and focus for long hours. So what happens as a process?<\/p>\n

One learns to concentrate and develop qualities like patience. Apply these qualities to studies, and it does wonders!<\/p>\n

There are so many students who not just play chess well but also get good grades!<\/p>\n

Sitting down and focusing well is one of the main reasons for that.<\/p>\n

2.Promotes a growth mindset<\/em><\/strong>\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

I hope you get the point.<\/p>\n

Small decisions make a big difference.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chess rewards hard work, dedication, and continuous learning. There\u2019s always a higher level or as our founder, Kapil Lohana, says, \u201cThere\u2019s always room for improvement!\u201d<\/p>\n

Building this growth mindset helps \u2013 not just in education but also in life!<\/p>\n

3. Builds self-belief at an early age<\/em><\/strong>\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Can you tell a game where a 10-year-old can easily beat someone in their 20s or 30s?<\/p>\n

In most physical sports, that doesn\u2019t happen. Neither does it happen in business.<\/p>\n

But chess is different. You often see young kids defeating opponents much older and bigger than them.<\/p>\n

Chess draws from brain power, not experience.<\/p>\n

Now for adults, this might not be a big deal. But for young children, it does wonders for their confidence.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s like planting the seed of self-belief at a young age \u2013 \u2018You can achieve anything, regardless of your size, caste, gender, or religion!\u2019<\/p>\n

\nBefore and after every chess game, players shake hands, regardless of the result.<\/p>\n

This teaches children no matter how badly they want to win against their opponent, they should be respectful towards them once the game is over.<\/p>\n

It instills strong ethical values. There\u2019s a reason why chess is called a gentleman\u2019s game.<\/p>\n

For an average child, it\u2019s hard to get exposure to a multicultural crowd. Not for the one who plays chess!<\/p>\n
